About Dr. Ryan Caufield

Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Joint Replacement Surgeon
Fellow American Board of Orthopeadic Surgery (FAAOS)

I’m a board certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in adult reconstruction of the knee and hip. I received my fellowship training at Rush University Medical Center, one of the premiere hospitals in the country.  In fellowship, I trained under some of the national leaders in knee and hip replacement. I then completed my Naval commitment as the only total joint replacement surgeon at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Northern Virginia.

As a Colorado native, I was excited to come home after leaving the Navy. Now I treat patients across the Front Range and Denver area who need help alleviating knee and hip pain that interrupts their daily lives. I remain an active member as a fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). I carefully track how each of my patients recovers, as I'm a deep believer people should know what to expect when being treated by me.

Testimonials

I met Dr. Caufield by way of him doing hip surgery on my brother. Dr.Caufield is a wonderful kind and a very compassionate person and I feel he is very honest about a patient's health care and it seems that he let's you make up your mind about what needs to be done after he gives you all the information. He is I think a very wonderful person and Doctor.

This was my second Total Knee Replacement with Dr Caufield. He is a total professional and kept me informed and at ease during the entire process from start to finish. I broke my tibial plateau last April. Not a good break to say the least. I was fortune enough to end up as a patient of Dr. Caufield. He was great. He explained my options, surgery or not and what the pros and cons of each alternative was. Clearly I needed surgery. The surgery went very well. I had a steel plate and 7 screws inserted into my leg / lower knee joint. The follow up care was exceptional. Dr. Caufield really cares about me and my recovery. He answers all my questions.

Dr. Caufield far exceeded my expectations. Facing a total knee replacement was frightening, but Dr. Caufield and his team ensured I was fully prepared with comprehensive patient education, including an informative pre-surgery class. I went into the procedure with clear, realistic expectations and I'm very pleased with the results - 3 months out from surgery and I can do stairs and ride a bike again! Thank you Dr. Caufield for your expert & compassionate care!

Dr. Ryan Caufield did an AMAZING job on my TKR. I am very impressed by the entire staff and professionalism. I was told 10 years ago that I needed a TKR, and I wish I had done it at that time. I am very happy with my new knee, and I couldn't have found a better doctor in Dr. Caufield. I'm at the 7 week mark since my TKR and my life has completely changed. I am walking PAIN FREE now!

Dr. Caufield gave my life back. Six months ago I could hardly walk due to severe osteoarthritis in both hips. Now I am cycling, hiking and training to ski again after years of increasing pain and inflexibility. Dr. Caufield, his staff and Rose Ortho are exceedingly professional, caring and committed to achieve optimum results for patients. Each patient is unique, but I was able to go home early the next day after each THR, and immediately start PT and recovery. He made it easy to live life again.

I had some trepidation about hip surgery. After meeting dr Caufield I felt so comfortable. Explained everything clearly and was so supportive. Never rushed and has a good sense of humor. Surgery went great, healed better than expected. He is really special not like great surgeons who have lousy bedside manner! He has it all and I will recommend him very highly.

I don't normally bother to leave reviews. However, I feel compelled to sing the praises of Dr. Caufield. Having heard many post surgery horror stories I am happy to report being totally pain free after a fairly easy recovery period. I initially had knee replacement surgery and then found it necessary, 60 days later, to have a hip replacement. I was so pleased with my first surgery that I did not consider anyone but Dr. Caufield for my second surgery. Thank you Dr. Caufield.

Dr. Caufield did a fantastic knee replacement on me. After 90 days I'm back being active again, and now look forward to my retirement years of golfing and fly fishing. He has a very laid back and calm demeanor about him, and is very informative at anytime in the process.

I knew it was time. I had visited a surgeon earlier in 2017 and was extremely offended by his treatment. All that mattered to me was to get a competent surgeon that was kind, helpful and a good communicator. That's it. HOLY COW, I hit the jackpot with Dr. Caufield.

I was facing the end of my career as a firefighter due to the bad condition of both my knees. The pain and lack of agility in my knees was beginning to put myself and my crew at risk and I knew I had to seek help. Dr. Caufield listened, took into consideration my concerns, my medical needs, my unique situation and thoroughly explained my options. We decided knee replacements were necessary. Thanks to his expertise and care, I am back to work and my active lifestyle. I can’t thank him enough.
